Champion Financial, LLC is an asset recovery company based in Ohio. We help individuals, families, and estates recover money that is being held in their name, money that they typically don’t know exists.
The firm was founded by two attorneys who, in the course of their other work, kept encountering the same pattern: a dormant balance held under a clear owner’s name, with the owner entirely unaware that any of it was there. The procedural barriers between “money exists” and “money in your account” are real, but they’re solvable with patient research and careful paperwork.
The Principals
Joshua Gunsher, J.D.

Joshua Gunsher leads Gunsher Attorneys, Ltd., in Southwestern Ohio, where his practice centers on trust and estate administration, real estate, and related civil litigation. That work dovetails perfectly with what Champion Financial does: connecting people and their assets. He earned a J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, a M.A. from the Catholic University of America, and an A.B. from Princeton University. Prior to founding Champion Financial and entering private practice, he was the Staff Attorney for a probate court where he cut his teeth.
Alex Freitag, J.D.

Alex Freitag has spent more than a decade in civil litigation and arbitration, first in private practice and later as in-house litigation counsel for a global real estate services company, where he managed a portfolio of more than a hundred active matters. Before that he was a partner at a national firm, where he built and ran its Ohio and Kentucky litigation practice. He earned his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and also holds a degree in computer programming and database management, the combination behind the research systems this firm uses to identify held funds and trace them to the people they belong to.
Champion Financial, LLC is not a law firm. Although the firm’s principals are licensed attorneys in Ohio, Champion Financial, LLC does not provide legal services to the people it assists, and engaging us does not create an attorney-client relationship. Some recoveries cross state lines; in those cases, our principals’ Ohio license does not authorize us to appear in other forums, and we make appropriate arrangements with local counsel.
What we do and do not handle. The funds we research and recover are held by courts and clerks of court, county and municipal offices, federal agencies, bankruptcy estates, receiverships and liquidations, and similar custodians. Champion Financial, LLC does not act as a finder of unclaimed funds reported to the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Unclaimed Funds, within the meaning of Chapter 169 of the Ohio Revised Code, and does not accept engagements to recover those funds for a fee.
